October - a Wave of FSA Wins

In the first two weeks of October, the FSA won a surprising number of victories, sacking an air defense base East of Damascus, and establishing a de facto buffer zone in Idlib. This article covers most of it:

Previous to this I've only collected, in chronological order, FSA attacks we've documented against either Assad air bases, aircraft, or air defenses, between June and September 12. I'll try to make more in-depth updates as I can, but here's a brief update.
Since then, on October 12, right on the heels of these events, the FSA (with the Al Nusra Front) captured a, air defence base in Taanah, between Aleppo and Al Bab, and the FSA captured a large part of the air defense base in Saqin, Idlib. The maps of both places (with only a estimate on where the Taanah base is) can be found here, and EA's Coverage is here.

Yesterday, October 16, a MiG was shot down near Taanah, and a helicopter was reportedly shot down near Aleppo.  A helicopter was also reportedly downs in Al Bukamal, in Deir Ez Zor province.

Other aircraft have been shot down between now and September 12th, and we'll update the whole record when we have a chance.

The struggle for air power

Below I've listed all the examples we've been able to find of when either the Free Syrian Army attacked air bases belonging to the regime, or the FSA shot down Assad aircraft. We've listed them in in chronological order.

It is possible that I've missed some, and I will continue to add to this list if neccessary.

Videos show a helicopter destroyed in Ma'arat Dibsah, Idlib province. It appears that the helicopter landed before it was destroyed, potentially because it was taking damage from ground fire.

FSA reportedly destroys at least one helicopter in  Khan as Subil, Idlib province. Reports indicate a downed helicopter in Saraqib/Taftanaz as well, though it's unclear if this is the same helicopter or an additional one.
