Crimean leader Sergei Aksyonov tweets that if Kyiv launches a military operation, "without the right," then "the courteous" would be legally justified in entering Ukrainian territory.
In other words, Ukraine's anti-terrorism operation could be, according to the new leader of Crimea, an excuse for Russia, "the courteous," to invade. As we reported earlier, Catherine Ashton praised Ukraine's use of law enforcement actions in order to preserve Ukraine's territorial integrity. Not only are these two lines of thought at odds, but if Ukraine does what the EU wants it to do Russia may invade as a direct result.
On the other hand, with police defecting and separatists at large and unchecked, Russia, via its supporters and possibly even its agents or spetsnaz, has effectively already taken over parts of eastern Ukraine.
