Five Ukrainian soldiers were wounded, two of them with medium severity. In the previous reporting period, five soldiers were also wounded. Russia-backed militans made 35 attacks.

According to Liga.net, new research by journalists at Radio Svoboda's Donbass.Realii indicates that  the Russian military officer Sergei Dubinsky (call sign Khmury) directed the transport of the Buk missile system used to shoot down MH17 in 2014.

Oleg Baturin, head of the civic organization Evroprostir identified Dubinsky as the "architect" of management of the forces of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic."

The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) suppliled voice tapes which helped to reconstruct the route of the Buk to the town of Pervomaysk from where the missile was launched.

Dubinsky is a colonel in Russian military intelligence (GRU). Baturin found documents confirming that Dubinsky remains in the Donbass in the Russian military; Dubinsky made a request for funds for housing. He also found information about his background. Before the war, he lived in Bolshaya Novoselka in the Donetsk Region, but moved to Storozhevoye. A resident of the village who knew him confirmed he was in the Russian army, but said he could not believe he was involved in the downing of MH17.

Liga.net also reported that according to Radio Svoboda, journalists also interviewed Roman Dubinsky, Sergei Dubinsky's brother, who confirmed that he was an officer in the Russian military, and that he was in the DNR, although he said his brother claimed the Ukrainians had shot down MH17. He said the voice on the SBU tapes "is very similar" to his brother's voice.
