On October 26, Russia-backed forces attacked 20 times and Ukrainian forces opened fire 9 times, the Anti-Terrorist Operation [ATO] reported. One Ukrainian soldier was injured.
On the Lugansk line, militants attacked Stanitsa Luganskaya.
The Ukrainian JCCC protested against the use of 120-mm mortars to attack Vodyanoye, near Mariupol.
The Ukrainian JCCC also protested about a disruptive action on the part of the Russia-backed forces which they said endangered civilian lives. The Novotroitskoye checkpoint is known to close at 18:30, but at 18:00, militants allowed through 166 civilian automobiles. Due to poor weather conditions, Ukrainian border guards had to hurry the civilians through and did not finish work until 19:50.
The separatist news service DAN-News.info reported that a fighter for the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" (DNR) was killed in battle.
The Tomashevsky Bridge over the Seversky Donetsk river, destroyed in 2014 from separatist shelling, has been re-built, rejoining Rubezhnoye and Lisichansk.
