3 Civilians Wounded by Russia-Backed Shelling in Avdeyevka; 1 Ukrainian Soldier KIA, 5 WIA in 2 Days

Three civilians were wounded by Russia-backed shelling of Avdeyevka (Avdiivka), Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing the Donetsk Region Civilian and Military Administration.


Pavlo Zhebrivsky, head of the Donetsk Region Civilian and Military Administration said militants shelled residential areas about 19:40 (translation by The Interpreter):

"One shell exploded near the bus stop on Nekrasova Street. Three residents were wounded. One of the injured is in serious condition. One shell flew into the yard of a private home. The windows, walls and roof were damaged."

Vyacheslav Abroskin, head of the Donetsk Region National Police posted pictures of damaged homes on Lermontova Street No. 77 on his Facebook page.

He said both a woman and two men were wounded and taken to the hospital.

One Ukrainian soldier was killed and two wounded, Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing the evening dispatch of the ATO.

Earlier the ATO said in its 6:00 am dispatch that three Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in the previous reporting period, bringing the total number wounded in the last two days to 5.

There were 16 attacks throughout the day, 4 involving weapons banned under the Minsk agreement today; X in the previous reporting period.

On the Maritime line, Novotroitskoye was struck by 120-mm and 122-mm mortars and an armed BMP. Later, militants used 82-mm mortar-launchers and grenade-launchers on Ukrainian positions at Beryozovaya and Chermalyk. Heavy machine guns were fired near Krasnogorovka, Maryinka, and Bogdanovka.

On the Donetsk line, positions near Novoluganskoye and Svetlodarsk Bulge were struck with 120-mm mortars; one shell damaged a local agricultural building. Two pig farms were damaged, and fire broke out in one. There were no injuries.

Militants fired on Avdeyevka with 82-mm mortars, grenade-launchers and small arms; they fired from Gorlovka on positions near Zaytseov from an armed BMP and also threw hand anti-tank grenades.

On the Lugansk line, militants fired an 82-mm mortar launcher near Krymskoye.
