Ukraine Tracking More Than 100 Ceasefire Violations Per Day

At the briefing given by the Ukrainian military's Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) on Monday morning, the government reported 100 ceasefire violations over the previous 24 hours. Two Ukrainian soldiers had been wounded.

Fighting was once again reported across the entire front:

In particular, the Donetsk front appears to have seen some of the heaviest fighting, with heavy fighting near Luganske and also Gorlovka:
Avdeyevka continues to be an area of concern. Power was reportedly knocked out again today:

Also, a coking plant in the town was ordered to a "full emergency stop" as a result of damage from the shelling. Unian.info reports:

"Today there was a complete emergency shutdown as a result of insulation breach of one of the repeatedly shelled, damaged cables,” Magomedov wrote on Facebook.

However, within an hour, by using a 2.5-megawatt generator and a soft starter, we managed to… resume coke production and own generation. We are alive and we continue our work," he wrote.

Director Magomedov added that a damage was revealed today during an inspection of a power line, but the ceasefire was not guaranteed. The plant CEO said he hoped that on March 7, the power supply to the town of Avdiyivka would be restored, as well as to the plant and the Donetsk water filtration station.

The Ukraine Crisis Media Center published a government report describing a significant and alarming level of intensification in fighting over just the last two weeks:

Between February 27 and March 5, the average daily number of enemy cease-fire violations increased and ranged from 84 on Monday, February 27, to 153 on Thursday, March 2. The total number of enemy shellings of Ukrainian positions accounted for 760 last week. In 42% of cases, the enemy used heavy weapons.

Last week was marked by significant escalation in the ATO area. “The enemy expanded the geography of its combat activity and increased the intensity of fire. The militants continued violating the agreement to withdraw heavy weapons from the contact line and carried out armed provocations with the aim of shifting the blame on the Ukrainian Armed Forces”, stated Vilyen Pidgornyy, Ministry of Defense spokesperson at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

Over the week, Ukrainian troops observed the increased activity of enemy drones, which may be associated with improved weather conditions. According to Mr. Pidgornyy, last week Ukrainian troops registered 14 episodes of enemy UAVs conducting aerial reconnaissance in the ATO area.
